Working with Limitations
Limitations force you to condense the creativity put into a project into a smaller enclosed space, where it bounces off the walls, picks up speed and is able to travel in more and different angles. They can even help to get the ball rolling in the first place, because standing in the middle of a big, echoing room can be intimidating.
I experience a good mini exercise of limitation nearly every week at the flower shop I work at. By Friday we are usually running low on flowers, but I still need to come up with a good combination when those last minute customers remember that they have a date. These situations have led to some of my most interesting flower pairings and color combinations, which I might have never attempted without the limitation. My favorite example of this was when I was so low on flowers, I ended up using two potted cacti in an arrangement, and the customer loved it.
